VR Ideation Inside a DT Design Cycle (Gravity Sketch)

Differentiation

Rotation lets non-wearing students progress CAD or evaluation work; pair coaching for students new to controllers.

Accessibility / Alternative Route

The cycle is complete without the VR stage (sketch → CAD → print); VR is an enhancement stage, so opting out costs refinement, not access.

Safety / Setup

Stationary creation, low comfort risk; standard hygiene between users; shared-account attribution handled by export naming.

Teacher Preparation

Moderate: account/headset prep, export pipeline tested once in advance, print queue planned.

Computer science (3D file formats, coordinate systems), art (form), careers (this pipeline approximates professional industrial-design practice).

Extension

Students critique each other’s forms in VR; compare judged proportion at 1:1 vs on screen.

Reflection Questions

What did you change after standing inside your design? What did the print reveal that VR did not?

Sources / Evidence

the school deployment record (fleet, cohort reflections); the research notes.
